Yes. Many of our lenders will finance a car, ute, truck, caravan, boat or machine bought from a private seller or at auction, as well as from a dealer. Business purchases must be used at least 50% for business.

Buying privately or at auction?

Yes, it can be financed

Dealer, private sale and auction purchases can all be financed, for cars, utes, trucks, caravans, boats and equipment. You can borrow from $10,000 to $500,000, subject to lender criteria.

What we’ll usually need, by where you’re buying

Dealer	The dealer’s quote or invoice.
Private seller	The seller’s details and the vehicle’s rego and VIN. The seller also completes a quick e-inspection with a third party such as Verimoto or Redbook: they receive a link by SMS and email, then take photos of the asset and confirm their identity. We run a PPSR check on the asset.
Auction	Usually treated like a dealer purchase: the auction house invoice.

Can I get finance for a car from a private seller?

Yes. Many of our lenders will finance a car or ute bought from a private seller. Can I finance machinery or a truck bought at auction?

Yes. Auction purchases of trucks, machinery and vehicles can be financed, and lenders usually treat them like a dealer purchase. Talk to us before auction day so you know your options before you bid.

How old can the vehicle or equipment be?

It depends on the lender and the asset. Some lenders finance equipment up to 30 years old.

Do I need tax returns?

Not for a low doc loan. With a low doc loan you don’t need to provide tax returns or financials. Lenders still check your ABN, ID and credit history, and some may ask for a deposit.

How new can my ABN be?

From 3 months with some lenders for cars, utes, vans, caravans, boats and motorbikes, depending on your circumstances. Trucks and earthmoving equipment usually need 6 months.

Will checking my options affect my credit score?

No. We start with a soft credit check that doesn’t affect your credit score. Your credit file is only affected when an application is submitted to a lender.

Can I buy from a seller in another state?

Yes. We lend Australia-wide.

How much can I borrow?

From $10,000 to $500,000, subject to lender criteria, with terms from 1 to 7 years.
