How do motorbike loans work?
A motorbike or motorcycle loan lets you buy a new or used bike now and repay it over a set term, usually from 1 to 7 years, subject to lender criteria. It can be a road bike, an adventure bike or a dirt bike, from a dealer, a private seller or an auction. Financfy compares bike finance across our panel of 49+ lenders, then applies to the lender whose criteria best match you. We lend Australia-wide.
Buying for personal use or for your business?
For personal use
Buying it for yourself or your family? You can apply for a personal (consumer) loan. There’s no ABN or business-use requirement. Lenders have their own criteria for personal loans: if you’re employed, they usually look at your payslips, your employment and your living expenses.
For your business
If you have an ABN and the motorbike will be used at least 50% for your business, you can apply for a business loan. With some lenders your ABN can be from 3 months old, and low doc options mean you don’t need to provide tax returns or financials. See finance with a new ABN and low doc loan documents.

Frequently asked questions
A secured bike loan uses the motorbike as security for the finance, while an unsecured bike loan does not attach the loan to the bike in the same way. The right option depends on your circumstances, the bike, the loan amount and lender requirements. Financfy can explain how each structure works, what documentation may be needed and which approach may better suit your application.
Yes. Buying a motorbike for personal use is a personal (consumer) loan, so there’s no ABN or business-use requirement. Lenders have their own criteria: they usually look at your payslips, your employment and your living expenses. We start with a soft credit check and only apply to the lender whose criteria best match you.
Yes, if you have an ABN and the motorbike will be used at least 50% for your business. With some lenders you can apply with an ABN from 3 months, depending on your circumstances. With a low doc loan you don’t need to provide tax returns or financials. Lenders still check your ABN, ID and credit history, and some may ask for a deposit.
Yes. Lenders usually ask for the seller’s details and the bike’s details, such as rego and VIN, plus a quick e-inspection done through a third party like Verimoto or Redbook. The seller gets an SMS and email and takes photos of the bike to confirm it. We also run a PPSR check to make sure there’s no money owing on it. Auctions are usually treated like a dealer purchase. Not always. Some lenders don’t need a deposit, while others may ask for one depending on your situation, the bike and the loan amount. We’ll tell you up front.
Terms are usually from 1 to 7 years, subject to lender criteria. A longer term reduces each repayment but increases the total interest payable over the life of the loan. Try the motorcycle finance calculator to see how the term changes your repayments.
No. We start with a soft credit check that doesn’t affect your credit score. Your credit file is only affected when an application is submitted to a lender, and we only apply to the lender whose criteria best match your situation.
Many applications are approved within 24 hours, subject to lender criteria. Having your ID, income details and the bike’s details ready helps things move faster.
